Nearly 1,000 PCS union members working at energy regulator Ofgem are being balloted for strike action over pay, job security and working conditions.

The ballot covers Ofgem staff based in Glasgow, London and Cardiff. The PCS union said the dispute centred on what it described as inadequate pay offers, concerns about potential job losses and deteriorating conditions for workers at the regulator.

Glasgow Staff Among Those Affected

Ofgem’s Glasgow office is one of the regulator’s major UK bases, and a significant number of the staff being balloted are based in the city. A vote in favour of industrial action could disrupt the regulator’s work at a time when energy markets are under considerable pressure from the conflict in the Middle East.

The ballot result is expected in the coming weeks. If members vote in favour, strike dates would need to be announced with the required notice period before any walkouts could take place.
