STEWART KENNETH MOORE
Brass Neck Fred
About the artist
Stewart is a Scottish artist and actor who works in collage, montage, oil painting, digital media, pastel and, most recently, red wine as a paint medium. He trained as a graphic designer in Aberdeen and divides his time between Prague and Aberdeen. His illustrations and cartoons have appeared in Esquire, the Wall Street Journal, After Hours (the Chicago journal of art and poetry), the Prague Post and the Prague Business Journal. He has had small roles in ‘Young Ivanhoe’ for Canadian TV, ‘Prince Caspian’ (Disney ‘Chronicles of Narnia’ sequel) and the soon to be released ‘Solomon Kane’ film with James Purefoy.
The artist says
‘In the UK, a person who is impudent or disrespectful (and/or arrogant with it) can be described as ‘having a brass neck’. I realised that this is the one thing Sir Fred probably doesn’t own, so I went about designing one. I would like to create a brass neck sculpture and auction it with the hope of raising £703,000 – Sir Fred’s annual pension. The money will then be divided between people or groups doing exemplary work for the common good in the UK. Before the summer, I began a series of drawings for the sculpture, which I hope to cast in Scotland soon. Before that, however, I have to raise the considerable fees that casting such a sculpture will cost. To that end I’m selling sketches for the work at £50. I’ve raised just over £500 and need to double this to cover the cost of production.’
