A 16-storey student accommodation project in Glasgow city centre, Broadway Studios, has achieved a significant construction milestone, reaching its ‘topping out’ phase. This development, which will provide 432 beds for students, is located centrally within the city.

The project is a collaborative effort involving developer MRP, contractor McAleer & Rushe, and funding partner Puma Property Finance. Support for the initiative has also come from Glasgow City Council, highlighting local authority involvement in urban development.

Shane McCullagh, a director at McAleer & Rushe, commented on the progress. He said:

“Reaching the topping out milestone is a testament to the expertise and collaboration shown by everyone involved in bringing Broadway Studios to life. Thank you to our design team, supply chain and all other partners who have supported us thus far. We are proud to be playing our part in delivering high-quality, sustainable student accommodation in the heart of Glasgow and we look forward to maintaining this momentum as we progress towards completion later this year.”

Upon completion, Broadway Studios will offer modern living spaces complemented by a wide array of shared facilities. These amenities include a rooftop sky lounge, a fitness suite, a dedicated cinema, private dining areas, and various games rooms, designed to enhance student life.

The development is notable for being the first student scheme in Glasgow to fully comply with the city’s updated Purpose Built Student Accommodation (PBSA) spatial standards. It has also been designed with ambitious sustainability targets in mind, aiming for a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and WiredScore ‘Platinum’ accreditation.

, the building is projected to achieve an A-rated Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), exceeding Glasgow City Council’s energy efficiency requirements by 20 percent. Its design incorporates air-source heat pumps and high-performance building materials, intended to reduce long-term energy consumption.

The central location of Broadway Studios places it within convenient reach of several of Scotland’s prominent educational institutions. These include the University of Glasgow, the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Glasgow School of Art, the University of Strathclyde, and Glasgow Caledonian University.

Puma Property Finance has provided £58 million in development funding for the project, with McAleer & Rushe overseeing the construction phase. The entire development is scheduled for completion in summer 2026, preparing it to welcome students for the 2026/27 academic year. This significant construction progress contributes to the ongoing evolution of the Glasgow city centre scene. The scale of this undertaking reflects a broader trend in urban development across Scotland, echoing the importance of major infrastructure projects, such as the areas around the Auchinleck Mining Memorial.
