The Don was tired of chambermaids,
sought a little more conversation.
He hung it on the grape-vine:
Wanted -une horizontale.
He soon swan-ups a beauty
from the court.
Now he glides into the opera-house,
a traviata-trapping on his arm.
He’s flaunty under chandeliered reflections,
envied in the flickering gossip at the ball.
But true love harasses his dreams
with always wanting more;
the guttering shadow haunting
of a flame who died.
He’s had the good of many
since then, remembered few.
