Four men made off with over £10,000 in cash following a house break-in in Prestonpans, East Lothian, before fleeing the scene on electric bikes. The incident, which also involved the vandalism of a vehicle, occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the theft, which took place at a residence in Suthren Yett between 2am and 3am. Officers are actively searching for the four individuals involved and have appealed for public assistance.

“Four men made off from the house after the break-in on Sur-Ron electric bikes in the direction of Jim Bush Drive.”

He urged anyone who was in the area on Sunday morning and witnessed anything suspicious, or who possesses relevant information, to come forward.

The police are particularly keen to trace the four men and the specific electric motorbikes used in the crime. Detective Inspector Sinclair also highlighted a broader concern about these types of vehicles, adding:

“These illegal bikes can pose a serious safety risk to members of the community and we would ask anyone who is aware of these being used in the Prestonpans area to please contact us.”
