Renowned musician Professor Green, real name Stephen Manderson, is poised to launch his new fast food enterprise, PG Fast Food, in Glasgow. The establishment, situated on Byres Road, is scheduled to open its doors to the public in early March, marking its debut location across the United Kingdom.

The new venture aims to offer what its creators describe as ‘fast food done better’, with a menu designed to provide a distinctive twist on traditional quick-service meals. Following the Glasgow launch, there are intentions to establish two additional outlets elsewhere in Scotland, with a broader nationwide rollout anticipated.

The menu at PG Fast Food introduces several new items. Among these are ‘UFOs’, which are signature filled and sealed dishes. These can be accompanied by salads or rice, featuring nostalgic recipes such as an all-day cheesy beano, barbecue chicken, and pot roast beef.

For those with a sweet tooth, the restaurant will serve ‘ICE Grapes’, a novel dessert concept. These come with a variety of toppings, ranging from agave and tajin for a lighter option to a white raspberry delight for a more indulgent experience.

A key feature of the beverage offering is the ‘dirty soda’ range. This includes signature PG-created concoctions like cola cherry bakewell, ‘hot Glasgow kiss’, and cotton candy unicorn. Patrons will also have the opportunity to customise their own drinks from an extensive selection of soda bases, flavours, creams, purées, caffeine drizzles, and foam toppings, allowing for personalised levels of indulgence.

The enterprise is a collaboration with Hero Brands, a portfolio company known for its culture-led food and beverage brands, including GDK and Sides. Hero Brands maintains its headquarters in East Kilbride, positioning Glasgow as a strategic choice for the initial launch. This decision highlights the city’s appeal as a hub for new commercial ventures, contributing to Scotland’s diverse business scene.

Professor Green said: “I wanted to drop something as bold and as honest as my music. A brand that is honest about itself and accessible, available to be enjoyed by all.” He added, regarding the location choice: “With the Hero Brands HQ in East Kilbride, Glasgow was the obvious choice for our first store. Every time I’ve toured here, the energy has been electric! The city’s got grit, character and a sense of community that matches what PG Fast Food is all about, real food for real people. Food needn’t always be healthy, but your relationship with it should be. Glasgow, get ready. The countdown is on.”

Rebecca Tye, the Managing Director for PG Fast Food and former Head of UK Franchise at M&S, elaborated on the brand’s mission. She indicated that the venture aims to revolutionise the perception of fast food in the contemporary culinary scene. The city’s dynamic environment, which has seen initiatives like increased cycling infrastructure investment, continues to attract new new businesses.

Rebecca Tye stated: “PG Fast Food is flipping the old fast-food game on its head and redefining what fast food means today. We’ve created a menu that demonstrates fast food does not have to be bad food. You can choose how indulgent or not you want to be on any given day, with flavour packed throughout the whole menu. It’s designed to fit as well into your day post-run as it does pre-Friday night fun. Glasgow is just the beginning, we can’t wait to launch the concept, develop our offering and roll out in cities nationwide.”

The opening of PG Fast Food is anticipated to add another distinctive offering to Glasgow’s vibrant food scene, reflecting evolving consumer preferences for both convenience and new dining experiences. The company’s expansion plans signal confidence in the Scottish market as a fertile ground for new culinary concepts.
