Douglas Hall
Douglas Hall was keeper of the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art from 1960 until 1984. He was awarded an OBE in 1985 and retired in 1986. By that time the collection had achieved international as well as Scottish scope. The history of the gallery and its policies is now the subject of academic study and Douglas Hall is anxious that his policy should be understood as purposive and not in some way negligent.
