Just got back from Coral Glasgow on Sauchiehall Street and they've quietly switched their live blackjack tables from 3:2 to 6:5 payouts on naturals. Noticed it straight away when I got blackjack on my third hand - dealer paid me £12 on a £10 bet instead of the usual £15.

Asked the pit boss and he confirmed it's a permanent change as of Monday morning. Same tables, same dealers, but the house edge just jumped from 0.5% to around 1.9%. No signage change yet - still shows the old payout structure on the felt.

Anyone else noticed this at other Coral venues? The Edinburgh branch was still 3:2 when I was there last Friday, but that might change soon if this is rolling out company-wide.

Absolute nonsense move from Coral. That's nearly a 1.4% swing in house edge - you'd get better odds playing their online blackjack. Why would anyone play 6:5 when Genting down the road still offers proper 3:2 tables?

Spotted this trend coming months ago. Started at the smaller operators first - was playing at MyStake last month and their live tables switched to 6:5 without warning. Lost £180 over a 4-hour session because I didn't notice the payout change until hand 47.

Went back to check the terms and they'd updated the rules page but kept the same table names. Classic bait and switch. Now I always check payout structures before sitting down - caught three different venues trying this in the past six weeks.

The worst part is they keep the minimum bets the same so casual players don't realise they're getting fleeced. A £20 natural should pay £30, not £24. That £6 difference adds up fast over a session.

The maths on this is brutal. Standard 6-deck blackjack with basic strategy gives the house a 0.46% edge at 3:2 payouts. Switch to 6:5 and that jumps to 1.91% - more than quadruple the house advantage.

For a £100/hour player, that's an extra £1.45 per hour going to the house. Over a typical 6-hour weekend session, you're looking at £8.70 more in expected losses. Might not sound like much but it compounds quickly.

Used to deal at a Coral venue until 2019. This is management responding to tighter margins - they're trying to squeeze more revenue per table without adding new games. The 6:5 switch typically increases table revenue by 15-20% because most punters don't notice or don't care about the payout difference.

What's frustrating is they'll keep advertising "authentic blackjack experience" while fundamentally changing the game. Real blackjack pays 3:2 on naturals - anything else is a carnival game dressed up to look legitimate.

Time to vote with your wallet. Donbet still runs proper 3:2 tables with £5 minimums and their verification only took 18 hours when I signed up last week. Better house edge and faster cashouts than most high street venues.

This is exactly why I moved most of my action online. Physical casinos keep degrading the games while online operators maintain better odds to stay competitive.

Cheers for the heads up. Was planning to hit Coral Glasgow this Saturday but I'll stick to Genting instead. Won £85 there last weekend on their 3:2 tables.

The 18 hours verification at Donbet sounds optimistic. I applied there Tuesday and it's been 41 hours with no response to my follow-up email. Their chat keeps saying "24-48 hours standard" but won't escalate.

More importantly, why are we acting surprised about Coral's move? They've been testing worse odds on side bets for months. This 6:5 switch was inevitable once they saw punters didn't walk away from the 7:1 Perfect Pairs reduction in October.
