Signed up to Freshbet on Thursday morning after seeing their £100 welcome bonus advertised at 35x wagering. Got through the deposit and bonus credit, then noticed the terms page now shows 40x wagering for the same bonus code.

Checked my account dashboard and it's definitely showing 40x for my active bonus. The promotional email I received Tuesday still shows 35x wagering, but their main terms page has been updated.

Anyone else caught by this change?

Wondering if they're honouring the 35x for existing signups or if everyone's getting bumped to 40x. The difference works out to about £500 extra wagering requirement on a £100 bonus, which is substantial.

Their live chat was offline when I tried earlier, so haven't managed to get clarification yet.

Typical operator move - change the terms quietly and hope nobody notices. 40x wagering is taking the piss for a welcome bonus, especially when you've already deposited based on 35x advertising.

I'd demand they honour the original 35x since you signed up under those terms. Screenshot everything and escalate to their complaints team if live chat fobs you off.

This appears to be a systematic change rather than an isolated error. I've been monitoring operator bonus terms weekly since October, and Freshbet has been consistently offering 35x wagering on their welcome package since launch.

The timing suggests they're responding to increased acquisition costs or regulatory pressure on bonus conversion rates. A 5x increase in wagering requirements typically reduces bonus completion rates by 12-15% based on industry data.

From a legal standpoint, if you received promotional material stating 35x and deposited based on that information, you have grounds to demand they honour the original terms. The Advertising Standards Authority takes a dim view of bait-and-switch tactics, particularly when money has already changed hands.

I'd recommend filing a formal complaint through Freshbet first, then escalating to UKGC if they refuse to honour the 35x wagering you were promised.

Ran the numbers on this change. 35x wagering on £100 bonus = £3,500 total wagering requirement. 40x pushes that to £4,000, which is a 14.3% increase in required turnover.

Assuming average slot RTP of 96%, your expected loss increases from £140 to £160 just from the wagering bump. Factor in variance and the completion probability drops significantly.

Worth checking if they've adjusted other bonus terms simultaneously - maximum bet limits, game weightings, or time restrictions often get tweaked alongside wagering changes.

Bollocks to 40x wagering - that's entering proper mug territory. I've been telling people for months that Freshbet's bonus terms were too good to last, and here's the proof.

Honestly, you're better off looking elsewhere for welcome bonuses. Tenobet is still running 30x wagering on their £150 welcome package, and they've held that rate steady for eight months now. Much better value proposition than what Freshbet's offering post-change.

I pulled £2,400 from Tenobet last month on their weekend reload - 25x wagering, cleared it in two sessions on Pragmatic slots. That's the kind of operator consistency you want, not this sneaky terms-changing nonsense.

This is exactly why I always screenshot bonus terms before depositing anywhere. Operators change conditions more frequently than people realise, and it's usually not in the player's favour.

40x wagering pushes this bonus into the "avoid" category for anyone managing their bankroll sensibly. The completion rate drops too low to justify the risk, especially with better options available elsewhere.

Been in this game long enough to see operators pull this stunt dozens of times. They launch with attractive terms, build up a customer base, then quietly squeeze the conditions once they've got momentum.

Freshbet's probably banking on most punters not noticing the 5x increase, or just accepting it rather than complaining. Classic operator psychology - test how much they can get away with before customers push back.

Fight it if you've got the energy, but don't be surprised if they stick to their guns. Most operators would rather lose one complaining customer than honour old terms for everyone who signed up.

The timing of this change is particularly telling - Thursday implementation suggests they waited until after the midweek deposit cycle to avoid immediate backlash. I've been tracking Freshbet's terms since their October launch, and this represents a 14.3% increase in wagering burden that effectively reduces the bonus value from £150 to approximately £131 in expected value terms.

What's concerning is the lack of grandfathering for existing accounts. Most operators implement term changes for new registrations only, but Freshbet appears to have applied this retroactively to all pending bonuses. The 40x threshold also pushes them above the industry median of 35x that most UKGC-licensed competitors maintain.

For context, Donbet still honours their 25x wagering on welcome bonuses with the same £150 ceiling, making them significantly more attractive for bonus hunters willing to work through legitimate playthrough requirements.
