Been backing the Championship all season and noticed something dodgy yesterday. Ladbrokes pulled all the match markets for Raith Rovers vs Ayr United 24 hours before kickoff instead of the usual 2 hours. Same thing happened with Queen's Park vs Partick Thistle on Tuesday.

Checked with a mate who works the odds and he said they're doing it across all Scottish Championship fixtures now - citing 'liquidity management' whatever that means. Problem is other bookies are still taking bets right up to kickoff, so you're stuck scrambling if you want to get on late team news.

Anyone else noticed this? Seems like they're trying to limit exposure on lower league Scottish football but it's killing any value you might find on late market moves.

Aye, spotted this last weekend and it's a right pain. They're basically forcing punters to bet blind on team sheets. Mental decision from Ladbrokes - the Championship's got decent turnover compared to League One or Two.

This started about three weeks ago from what I can tell. I was tracking the Dundee United promotion run and noticed markets disappearing early for their away fixtures. Called Ladbrokes customer service and got the usual script about 'operational requirements'.

What's really annoying is they're still offering Championship markets on their app promotions - saw a '5-fold Championship acca insurance' banner yesterday but half the games had no markets available. Ended up moving most of my Championship action to MyStake where they keep markets open until 15 minutes before kickoff. Their Championship coverage is actually better than most UK books now, plus they don't restrict your account after a few decent wins.

The timing feels deliberate too - they know Scottish football punters often wait for team news that comes out around Friday afternoon for Saturday games. Now you're forced to punt early or go elsewhere.

Not surprised tbh. Ladbrokes have been tightening everything lately. Even their weekend slot tournaments dropped the prize pool from £5k to £2.5k this month. Seems like they're cutting costs across the board.

From a numbers perspective this makes sense for them. Championship fixtures probably see most action in the final 6 hours before kickoff when casual punters jump on. By closing early they're avoiding the sharp money that comes in after team sheets drop.

But it's terrible for regular punters who actually follow the league. I've switched to Tenobet for Scottish football - they keep markets live until kickoff and their Championship odds are usually 2-3 points better anyway. Plus they don't mess about with market suspensions every time someone scores.

Maybe this is actually a good thing? Forces you to do proper research instead of chasing late odds movements. I've lost more money on last-minute bets based on team news than I care to remember.

That said, it's pretty poor customer service to change the rules without proper notice. Been with Ladbrokes for eight years and they never used to pull this stuff with Scottish football.

Word from someone who knows the trading side - this isn't just Ladbrokes. Expect to see similar moves from other major UK books over the next month. The Championship's become a bit of a liability for them, especially with how unpredictable results have been this season.

The smart money's already moved to offshore operators anyway. Better odds, higher limits, and they actually want your business.
