Been tracking my sessions at Grosvenor Edinburgh over the past three weeks and something's not adding up with the Merkur machines. Specifically Eye of Horus and Magic Mirror Deluxe - both advertised at 96.1% RTP but I'm consistently hitting around 92.3% across 47 tracked spins at £1 stakes.

Logged every spin from 14th January through yesterday, total £47 wagered, got back £43.38. That's a 7.7% house edge when it should be closer to 3.9%. I know variance exists but this feels systematic.

Session breakdown:

  • Week 1: £16 wagered, £14.20 returned (88.75%)
  • Week 2: £18 wagered, £16.85 returned (93.6%)
  • Week 3: £13 wagered, £12.33 returned (94.8%)

Anyone else noticed Merkur games running cold at Grosvenor recently? Could be they've switched to lower RTP variants without updating the displayed percentages.

Course they're running lower RTPs. Grosvenor's been pulling this stunt for months - they advertise the highest possible RTP variant then actually run the 92% versions. Check the game info screen next time, bet you'll find it shows different percentages than what's on their website marketing.

I've been tracking Merkur performance across multiple venues since December and your numbers align with what I'm seeing. Ran 156 spins on Eye of Horus at Grosvenor Edinburgh last Friday - £78 total wagered at 50p stakes, returned £71.20 (91.28% actual vs 96.1% advertised).

Compared this to Winstler where the same Merkur titles consistently hit 95.8-96.3% over 200+ spin samples. Their Eye of Horus paid £94.60 on £100 wagered last week, much closer to expected RTP.

The discrepancy suggests Grosvenor is either running different game configurations or their RNG certification isn't matching the displayed percentages. Worth filing a complaint with UKGC if you've got solid session logs like this.

Used to work at Grosvenor Aberdeen and can tell you they absolutely run lower RTP variants when corporate thinks they can get away with it. Merkur games have 4-5 different payout configurations - 96.1%, 94.2%, 92.8% and sometimes 90.1% for high-traffic locations.

The display screens show whatever marketing wants them to show. Real RTP is buried in the game's technical info, usually 3-4 menu clicks deep where punters won't look.

Wait, so casinos can just change the RTP without telling anyone? How is that legal? I thought UKGC required them to display accurate percentages?

Also, how do I check the actual RTP on a slot machine? Is there a specific menu I should look for?

Imagine being shocked that a casino is rigging the odds in their favour. Next you'll tell me water is wet and politicians lie.

47 spins isn't even close to a meaningful sample size for RTP analysis. Come back when you've logged 2000+ spins, then we can talk about whether it's systematic or just you having a rough patch.

The sample size criticism is fair but Fiona's tracking method is solid. I've been doing similar analysis and found that Tenobet actually displays real-time RTP data for each slot session, which helps verify whether you're hitting expected returns.

Their Merkur collection shows consistent 95.9-96.2% over my last month of £0.50 sessions. Much more transparent than the brick-and-mortar venues where you're flying blind on actual payout rates.
